The constitution came into force on January 26, 1950, which is celebrated as Republic Day.
The drafting committee was formed on August 29, 1947. Dr. B R Ambedkar chaired the committee, and S. N Mukherjee was the chief draftsman. Prem Behari Narain Raizada was the calligrapher of the Indian Constitution. He handwritten the original constitution in a flowing italic style. The Constitution of India has 448 articles, 25 parts, and 12 schedules.
