A multi-sided lake, Kankaria lake was built by Sultan Qutab-ud-Din in 1451 AD. Originally known as “Qutb Hauz” or “Hauz ? I ? Qutb”, it was used for bathing by the kings. A 34-sided artificial lake shaped like a polygon, it is surrounded by flights of cut stone steps. An artificial island, Naginawadi, graces the centre of the lake.
Located in the southeastern part of the city, the Kankaria lake symbolises the rejuvenated settlement of east Ahmedabad. It has been a symbol of Ahmedabad’s identity for the past 500 years.
The watercolour art print captures the enormous Kankaria Lake in its natural beauty! Grab a photo of this art print and spruce up your work desk with historic Kankaria Lake, the second largest lake in Ahmedabad.
